Transportation Pollution

We prevent and manage pollutants emitted from mobile sources and provide scientific support for national environmental policy related to performance evaluation of zeroemission vehicles, such as electric vehicles, including through

  • Research on methods to test non-exhaust systems (e.g., tires, brakes) and estimate their contribution to emissions
  • Research on environmental assessment and performance evaluation of zero-emission vehicles such as electric vehicles
  • Evaluation and validation of exhaust gas control logic and analysis of the effect of introducing real driving emission test methods
  • Support for introducing policy on a real driving emission management system in the non-road sector
  • Management of transport emissions and greenhouse gases (GHG)
  • Responses to international standardization of vehicle emission measurement methods
  • Research on the development of national emission factors in the transport sector and improvements to methods for calculating emissions
  • Improvement of systems related to automobile fuel, additives, and catalysts, and management of fuel-based pollutants
